Are you getting ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT when you search for any website? then you have got to the correct place to fix this problem. I regularly get this problem too when I try to access TechyGuide website. it has become a headache for me. when ever I try to access techy guide it shows ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT you can see the below screenshot as well.
I connect my phone’s wifi to my laptop and try to access techy guide then there won’t be any problem for me. but if connect to my ISP then again it shows ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT. I have done huge research and sharing this with you people to fix ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT and finally, I fixed my problem. so, just follow some simple steps and learn to fix “ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT”
The main reason for this is host file or firewall blocking the connection or unresponsive proxy on LAN settings or maybe misconfiguration in DNS Settings.
Try to connect with the another device to the same network and give a try. If you are able to access then follow the blow steps and if you are not able to access then it’s your ISP/Network problem (contact your ISP)
Method 1: Modifying Hosts File
This may be one of the reasons for blocking the website from not accessing it. You can simply remove the website from the host file list and stop your windows from blocking it. follow the below steps to remove
Step 1: First of all open my computer from your PC/Laptop
Step 2: Now double click on local disk:C and select Windows
Step 3: In Windows search for system 32 and open it.Step 4: After opening system, now again search for Drivers folder & open it.Step 5: Now again search for ETC folder and select HOSTS file and open it via notepad.
Step 6: After opening HOSTS file via notepad you will see a list of websites & ip address after # sign
Step 7: If the website which is saying ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT is listed in that host file then simply remove it and save it by pressing ctrl+s & exit the folder.
Step 8: That’s it. this is how you solve ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT via hosts file. if this method didn’t work for you then follow the below method.
Method 2: Changing firewall settings
Step 1: Now you need to change the windows firewall to find out it is blocking or not
Step 2: Simply go to search and search for Windows Firewall and select turn windows firewall on or off
Step 4: If the website still shows then that’s not the firewall problem. simply go back and turn on both private & public network settings.
Step 5: If you are using any anti virus software then make sure you check it is blocking or not.
Step 6: This how you can solve this problem if the problem is with a firewall. follow the below method if this method didn’t work
Method 3: Flushing the DNS Settings:
Step 1: Go to search and search for CMD
Step 2: Now You need to open CMD as administrator. click right click on cmd and select open as administrator.
Step 3: Now a window will open, Simply type ipconfig/flushdns and hit the enter button.
Step 4: It will show successful. that’s it. this is how you will be able to fix ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT problem via flushing the DNSStep 5: If flushing the DNS didn’t solve your problem then follow the below method.
Method 4: Changing internet proxy settings:
Step 1: Open your chrome browser and type chrome://settings and hit enter
Step 2: Now scroll down and select advanced options Step 3: Advanced options go to System> Open Proxy Settings & a window will pop upStep 4: Simply select LAN Settings and uncheck automatically detect settings & use a proxy server for your LAN if checked
Step 5: After unchecking simply click on ok and exit the pop-up & try to access the website which was giving ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT problem.Step 6: If still, you are unable to access then follow the below method.
Method 5: Renewing IP Address:
Step 1: Open CMD as administrator and type the following code
Step 2: After entering the above codes. exit the CMD and reboot your PC/Laptop to make the changes apply.
Step 3: Now after reboot, try to access the website and if you still not able to fix ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT problem follow the below methods
Method 6: Clear your browsing data & give a try
Method 7: If you are using WIFI router then reset your router and give a try (This fixed my problem)
Method 8: If any of the above methods didn’t work for you then I will suggest you rest your Laptop/PC
(this will work for sure but make sure you try all the above methods before you reset & make a backup before you reset.)
